Firstly, I hope I explain this as simply as I can.
I have a DI-524 which my daughter uses for her laptop internet, the WAN output from that is connected to a linksys 4 port router, which is then conencted to my cable modem. My pc is connected to the 4 port router via ethernet.
We both have access to the net, my daughter can access shared files on my pc, but I cant get access to her laptop, even with file sharing enabled.
Is there some setting in the DI-524 that I have to set up to allow me to see her shared files?
One other thing, the reason why we both dont connect to the DI-524 is that all my pc stuff is in the basement, if I put the DI-524 down there I cant get a strong signal throughout the house, so I have the DI-524 upstairs in the living room and run cable down to the linksys router.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

I do not know the answer to your question, but maybe you can help me with mine. I have the same router. Do you have any idea how to get to the secure site in order to hide my ssid and make my network key a SECURED network rather than an UNSECURED network?

The router settings should be fine. Make sure you are both on the same workgroup and all permissions are setup correctly.

Go to the home tab and then wireless.

blokie, what OS you are using? Windows XP? If yes, then actually there are 2 types of file sharing in XP pro, maybe you did not configure it properly on your labtop.

File sharing with user/group permissions (http://www.home-network-help.com/share-file.html)

Simple file sharing (without password) (http://www.home-network-help.com/file-sharing.html)

Also here are wireless network security tips (http://www.home-network-help.com/wireless-network-security.html) to secure wireless network.

Hope helps.. :rockin:
