Ok my manager at work went home and uninstalled a ton of stuff, now when she boots up she is stuck at her packard bell screen, just before windows would finish loading, is there a way around reinstalling win 98 http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif

you can reinstall windows and it wont erase anything, but it will set everything back to default. i had to do this just the other day with win98se. but do a backup of important files just in case.
boot it up with a start up disk, with CD-rom support, then go to D:\setup (assume ur CD-ROM is D: )....everything should be ok

When you reinstall Win98 and it ask if you want to save the setup files, select no. This way it will not change as many of your personal settings.

Yes seleting no sometimes will save most of your personal settings but will not fix your problem. I have had this happen a couple of times. So if it don't rerun setup and check yes the next time. Either way it restores you system files. Good Luck!
Hey YARDofSTUF try this first... Clear msconfig first...Here's what I leave running in msconfig. Click start, click run and then type "msconfig" and click ok. Put a dot in "selective startup" then remove the check marks from "process autoexec.bat file" and "process config.sys file" then remove the check mark from "load startup group items". Click the win.ini tab at the top right of the screen and click the plus sign next to "windows". Remove the check marks from anything that has "run=" or "load=". Click the startup tab on the top right and then put the these check marks back in. scanregistry, systemtray, loadpowerprofile(there are two of these, check them both), your antivirus software. Click apply the OK, Restart when prompted.
I know this is basic but its a cut and paste from my basic troubleshooting. Also try SFC to see if the windows core files are intact.
You know if you can get it into safemode then all is not lost

If you can get inot safemode type SFC from the RUN command . This will check all your system files and tell you if any are corrupt.

I would tell here just to put here bootup disk& master reinstall cd disk. That packerdbell use and just run resetup on windows and she should be good to go. I have only had one packerdbell in my life. (Got rid of it) But any bodys that I have helped reinstall comes with there program software.
If you're not going over there to help, Just print this out and give it to her.
