So you installed a tweak for ME, but you're running 98SE? Right?

Hmmm, well like bug said, you can run scanreg /restore and choose a previously good version of your registry...

Good luck, man

After I install the registry tweak from this site, Sguide_tweak_98_ME, and reboot Win 98SE comes up with a registry error stating that windows is trying to fix the error and that I need to reboot. Once I reboot the I get the same message again and again.

I have used the registry tweaks off of this site on several pentium systems for a couple of years and have never had an issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

should have backed up your registry first
-
maybe you can recover with a boot disk and running: scanreg /restore

Something to try if above doesn't work and you can't remove patch.

1. Try 'RegCleaner' www.jv16.org/ (http://www.jv16.org/) [freeware].
or

2. MS-DOS > scanreg/fix
or

3. MS-dos > scanreg/restore

This is for Win98 & Win98SE only.

P.S. Welcome to the Forum.

Try this...it MIGHT work.

Boot to the dos prompt, by f8 at boot up.

In your Windows Directory do this.

attrib -r -s -h *.dat
attrib -r -s -h *.da0

Do a dir/w/p and BE SURE you see:

user.dat system.dat user.da0 system.da0

If you see those files do this:

del user.dat
del system.dat
ren user.da0 user.dat
ren system.da0 system.dat

What this does is restores the last time the registry backed up, which SHOULD have been the last SUCCESSFUL boot.

I dunno, depending on the last time windows did a back up, it may be very old, but it MAY get you going.

Try useing the default patch for the os you used. It should remove the settings for you. Good Luck!
