I really liked WIn2k for a long time and now I'm getting a little disappointed. First of all, most of you heard about my little ru in with zonealarm . . . I have been noticing severe problems with games on WIn2k. Such as in Sacrifice, as soon as I start to cast spells, it logs me outa the proggy. DOn't get me wrong, that mo-fo only crashed once on me before. I was very impressed. I'm getting a new computer in a week so I was wondering if I should even bother to install a dual-boot. The new computer specs are as follows . . .

AMD T-bird 1.2 Ghz
512 MB SDRAM
12/10/32x Plextor CDRW
16x DVD-ROM
Soundblaster Live X-Gamer
75 Gigabyte 7200RPM
GeForce 2 Ultra 64 Megs of DDR Ram
HomePNA 2.0 Network (Phoneline)

Will this system run well on WinME? I love Win2k's reliability but all I can do with that is surf the web . . . I think I'm just gonna stay with WinME and switch to a dual boot if I start seeing problems . . . what do you guys think? http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/confused.gif http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/confused.gif

I used to dual boot ME and 2k, but the only game I ever play any more, Soldier of Furtune, works just fine under 2k. As for your games and 2k, do you have the latest game patches installed? What other games are having problems running under 2k?

I run Quake 3, UT, Counterstrike, Theif, Shogun: Total War, Sacrifice, and several others. I see performance loss in about all of them. Maybe it's cause I only have a TNT in my current system. Here's my current system specs:

Pentium 2 Xeon 450
192 Megs of Ram
nVIDIA TNT
Voodoo 2 (win2k doesn't recognize)
8x DVD-ROM
2x Burner
LS-120 Drive
cable

I never used WInME before so I'm gonna see how it works. Thanks for your responce.

Your video card and CPU are the bottle necks.

That was my bad. Need for Speed doesn't work on Win2k. I never installed it before cause I just got it with my new sound card. I tried to and it said that it works only under WIn98 or Win95. SOrry bout that.
