Hi,

I have win98 but want to install winME. As the ME is a 'copy' I don't have a startup disk or anything.

If I format c:, can I use my win98 startup disk and the winME cd or do I have to do it another way?

Thanks

Well when I first installed my WinMe I installed over the Win98 and it worked great. Then I made a bootdisk and did a fresh install of WinMe . There might be an easier way but thats the way I did it.

Check your ME disk........I have 2 different versions and both are bootable.

I put the boot floppy in the drive, then under the edit file I selected "select all" (you may get a prompt if you have "do not show hidden files" selected). Then copy/paste the files to a new folder("WinMe boot disk")zip it with Winzip, send it. Then all they have to do is unzip it, select all, send to floppy and they have a boot disk.

magg, you should be able to boot up off of the WinME CD, if your motherboard is fairly new. What motherboard do you have?

All you need is any boot disk that has CD ROM support. As long as you can get to DOS and access the CD, that's all you need. It doesn't just have to be a WinME boot disk.
