Hi All, :(

Fistly, I hope this is the correct forum area.

Tonight I downloaded and used the TCP optimizer as advised on a forum I read. I simply clicked the optimal settings and it asked me to restart the computer, I said ok. Now the laptop simply wont load! I'm nearly close to tears as this is my husbands laptop and he desperately relys on it for work.

It's definately something to do with the TCP optimizer program as its a healthy pc and well looked after (anti-virus, firewall, anit spyware), it happened right after I clicked restart from within the TCP program.

The computer is a Dell 510m and is running XP pro. I've tried everything, running safemode, starting windows as normal but it gets to as far as showing the windows xp logo and the computer just quickly flashes a blue screen (lots of text on it but its too fast to read before the pc goes back to the start again)

Please please help, I really dont know what to do and we desperately need our laptop back as we need it to make a living. I'm even willing to give someone a reward (via paypal) if they can help get the pc back.

We dont have a windows automated system recovery disc as Ive already tried to boot again with the cd in and its asked for it.

Is there anyway I can return the settings back to the original state, it looks like my system doesnt agree with something TCP optimizer has done and I just need to put it back to how it was.

Again, we are desperate and will kindly pay a reward if someone can help us get it back to how it was earlier.

Sal:confused:

hi, thanks for the response.

im without doubt tcp optimizer done something, as it happened on the restart it asked me to do.

I selected 'the modify all network adapters option' and also in the preferences tab selected the 'enable registry editor'. Not sure if I should have done this.

I think it might have changed the registry or something? which my system obviously doesnt like and hence wont boot.

is there any way I can load the default settings (used by tcp optimizer) through some kind of start up dos?

I have a usb pen, no floppy disc drive.

If there is anything I can do to load the original settings back via some

again, if someone can guide me through it, we're more than happy to pay them.

its absolutely vital we get our laptop back as it was, my husbands sole income is based around this laptop. We've had the thing in pieces to see if that would help, took out the memory, the mini pci wireless card, and the bluetooth module to see if this had any effect, all to no avail.

we're beyond desperate.

right ive managed to stop on the blue screen here is the error.

it is the same layout as the screen here:

but has the following written,

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent further damage to your computer.

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

Then the standard stuff as in the link above then;

*** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x86F&F900, 0XC000009C, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

and thats it, again it only happened after I used TCP optimizer as described above. Hope someone can help.

I have not personnally encountered the Blue Screen and does not have the experience to advise. If the info in the laptop's hard disk is vital, I suggest you get a comp tech to connect it as a slave drive and backup all data before attempting to make corrections.

Optimizer has nothing to do with your issue
yor problem is that yor comp is infected propably by "DownloaderZlob " trojan horse, that destroys the winlogon.exe file. U can boot with the original OS cd and do a repair but unfortunately u will loose all yor docs. Difficult situation for u. If u can boot in DOS mode, save all yor docs to a directory IN yor hard disk ( ex:, C:\mybackupdocs ) and then do the repair or load yor hard disk, as a slave, like trogers said :D

Hi,

it happened immediately after I used TCP optimizer and restarted. Somehow it looks like my boot files got corrupted when the program did something to the registry. The computer is clean of virus and spyware.

I managed to use the recover consold and used the "CHKDSK /r" command which put the problem right and allowed us to boot. Thank goodness.

It was coincidence that you installed ran TCP optimizer then could not boot. Technology is freaky like that.
