View Full Version : Help! Comcast Cable Modem Constant Disconnects!
I am getting constant disconnects 4-5 an hour for the past week. 3 comcast guys have come to the house said the lines where fine, I have replaced my modem 3 times and still have the same problem. The comcast guys only explainantion was my signal strength was too strong and put in an extra splitter.

What modems are they giving you?
1 Motorola Surfboard and 2 RCA's. All of them were refurbs.

Nothing seems out of place.
Clean up the wires a bit so they arent wrapped around each other, make sure its not near some speakers or some thing that could disturb it.
Now if the electrical outlet was the issue wouldnt I have problems with everything else thats plugs in on that outlet?
What gets me is the everything worked fine then all of a sudden im getting disconnects like crazy. I havent moved anything.

Some things are more finickey than others for power. My modem didnt like my outlet because teh ground was bad, plugged it into another one and it worked perfectly.
If you have an outlet tester there check it, if not grab an extention cord and try another outlet.

where are you located? They are doing upgrades to roll out powerboost for upload and I've seen several places having issues reading over on dslreports forums.

Did you ever get that problem resolved? I am located in the Chicago land area as well, northwest suburbs. I have had them come out and replace the box twice and the problem still persists. Its extremely annoying for us since our telephone goes through them as well. So when you're on the phone it randomly disconnects too. I have been disconnected about 7 times today. I am getting extremely frustrated.
