Your connection is double NAT, meaning you have 2 routers connected in series.

What kind of signal equipment are you using?

well, I have my modem, which is connected to the phone jack. Then I have that connected to my router from the modem. From the router, it goes to my pc and my ps2. Does that answer your question?

my modem: Zyxel EQ 660-r
router: Linksys WRT54G v.6

Your Zyxel is also a router by default....you don't want back to back routers...I prefer only 1x NAT device on a network. Have you changed it to bridged mode?

I tried to switch it to bridged mode before and the modem just stops working. I guess I set it up wrong. Do you guys know how to switch it so that my setup still works properly?

My guess is that your modem did not stop working. Just that your router is not properly connected to the modem.

At the moment, your router is connected to LAN on both sides: to the LAN of Zyxel and issue a LAN to your comp. When you set your Zyxel into bridge mode, its router function is turned off and your router connecting to it will get a WAN connection.

So after setting the Zyxel into bridge mode, you have to connect a cable from the Zyxel into the WAN port of your Linksys and run a new setup of the router so that it establish a WAN connection with the Zyxel.

Hi,

An other approch to this problem, use ZyXEL in full modem router mode and disable Linksys WRT54G routing function and use it as a wireless Access Point.

Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

After reboot, test your speed at this link using a few US servers in differing directions: www.speedtest.net
