inevitable

I currently have 2 computers at home directly linked to each other with ICS enabled. I have an ADSL line which I mainly use to download material overnight. My ISP keeps disconnecting the line once in 6 hours so that downloaders like me get interrupted. Usually you have to wait for about 1-2 minuted to reconnect. On my current computer I have a program that solves this by trying to reconnect 2 minutes later.
Since I have been left my computer all night almost everyday the previous month the electricity bill was really high. I plan on buying a cheap pc to act as "download server" but when I asked a few of my friends they said that their router doesn't reconnect after disconnection unless it is manually restarted.
Does anyone else have a similar problem like this which you have overcome? Are there any good routers which have proved to work against this? Price is not a problem since its a one time only investment.
