Problems

OK so my friend has a compaq computer , with win ME and has been having problems getting online with Dialup. He uses AOL and whenever AOL gets on it says AOL has caused an unknown error and will be shut down. This is no details button, just a close button. It used to say that only when you tried to go to a web site in AOL or when you tried to go to a web site in IE(Then IE would give the same error) but now we cant even get to that point.

I have re-installed AOL for him about 9 million times, I have changed versions of AOL to see if that would help, I have re-installed IE, closed all other programs running, emptied cache, cleared history, emptied temp directory, and all of that didnt help.
I dont know whatelse to do.

Any Suggestions??????? :confused:

That's all I can think of, sorry :)

Thanks for the advice norm but unfortunately it is not my computer so I cant do that. He wants to stay with his current operating system, and still use AOL.

i agree with norm. maybe he should consider another isp. if using dial-up, go with earthlink, i use them as a backup and they have great customer service, and are reliable.
