Hi all,
I am dorking around with the home network and finally got the domain up and running. I am runing Server 2003 on my DC configured with DHCP, DNS, RRAS and FTP. At present i have 2 separate networks: my AD domain and a workgroup. I want to configure a wireless access point to the domain so that I can access the domain from anywhere in the house without having to be in my computer room. I know that I can use RDP to access the DC, but I would prefer to just authenticate to the domain directly. Thoughts?

Regards,

z

Yup it's no problem...the AP will allow wireless access to the rest of the LAN, long as you joined the domain properly with your workstations/laptops..you'll be fine.

I recall just plugging the WAP into the switch, and I was not able to authenticate. IT is a linksys WAP54GS. Is there any configiuring that i need to do on the WAP other than disabling DHCP? I noticed that there is a wireless config tool in 03, do I need to use that also. I neglected to mention that the workgroup has wireless as well, so my gf can use her laptop anywhere in the house. I do not think that they should conflict as we have 2 wireless LAN's at work: one for internal users and one for clients.

Z

Uplinked to your switch should work fine as long as it's only running in access point mode. I run pretty much the same setup as my house, the office, and at clients. What IP address is your DC? And what does IPCONFIG /ALL give you?

I am running RRAS so my WAN port is a leased static IP, and my lan is 10.1.x.x
