View Full Version : Routing question
Hi all
I got a new ADSL router and I plan to use it to connect to my office router. After configuring the ADSL router, office users can surf the net. However, the mobile users cannot get to the office network. After checking the logs from my office router, it stated 'Packet without NAT table entry blocked: ICMP(type:8, code:0). I even got this error after I allowed my mobile users to ping the office router.
Can anyone explain what the error message means and what configuration I need to do.
Thanks

Hi all
I got a new ADSL router and I plan to use it to connect to my office router.
Can we get some more details? New ADSL router...where is it located? What is it connected to? Office router....what is it connected to? IP range of each? How are they connected to each other? Are you replacing old office router with new ADSL router?
HI,
I am using SpeedTouch 585 ( with wireless )to link to the internet and I used one of the switch ports( that came with it ) to link to my Zyxel 30 router.
Currently, users attached to my Zyxel router are able to browse the internet and office servers. However, users on wireless that are connected to the SpeedTouch cannot access the application servers 'behind' the Zyxel router. Wireless users can access the internet.
SpeedTouch 585 :
1. Outside IP ( WAN ) : Dynamically assigned by my ISP
2. inside IP ( LAN ) : 192.168.188.253
Zyxel router:
1. Outside IP ( WAN ) : 192.168.188.254
2. Inside IP ( LAN ) : 192.168.8.1
Any thoughts of this?
Thanks for replying
Eric

You're running 2x routers back to back..effectively double NAT'ing..which you don't want to do. The inside routers firewall is doing its job.
You want an access point instead.

Double NAT = bad
You either need to buy an access point and connect it to the Zyxell.
Alternatively, couldn't he just change the subnet mask on the wireless PC's to 255.255.0.0, or put the Zyxell and the Speedtouch on the same subnet?
