Hi
I'm new in networking. we have small business network about 50 users.
I would like to monitor the internet traffic. The users connect to internet via DSL modem. There is a computer running XP pro between DSL modem and the switch. How can I monitor the internet traffic.
Thanks

Are you looking for overall usage of bandwidth?
Or to track what staff does online? Websites they visit, etc?

have the same question too. importantly, how do i track what apps each staff is using and how much bandwidth is being used. the bottom line is spread the bandwidth so everybody gets an equal share. thanks.

Mostly interested in tracking the users. Websites they visit and so on.
I have a computer between DSL modem and the switch with two ethernet cards. I would like to setup a monitoring software on the computer and log the users internet activity.

50 users...and a desktop OS running something like ICS?

Microsoft ISA server would do what you're looking for...it also comes built into SBS2K3 Premium.

Being you have a network of 50..do you have any servers there?

On the budget side..there are some proxy add-ons for some linux distro routers....

Yes, there is a win2003 server. Microsoft ISA server is a solution.
Thanks
