I cannot network my desktop with my laptop.
My Windows XP Desktop is hardwired to my dsl modem/router.
My Windows XP Laptop is wireless.
Both are connecting to the internet.
Both are on the same workgroup and have unique names.
Both have had their firewalls turned off.
The desktop can ping the laptop but the laptop CANNOT ping the desktop.
I've run the network wizard repeatedly with no luck.
I've followed instructions for enabling the netbios over tcp/ip (found on this site) with no luck. Maybe I misunderstood them as I'm not the best at understanding networking.
HP tech support is horrible and after several calls with them they had me reinstall my operating system and it STILL isn't working.
My big problem is that IT USED TO WORK! I had it set up months ago and don't recall doing anything different than I'm doing now! The laptop went out of town for 12 weeks on business and when it returned, it was refusing to play nice.
HELP PLEASE I'm going out of my mind with frustration!
Thank you, Karen
