I'm using a Belkin F5D8230-4 Router and I'm trying to figure out a way to get back into the admin interface control.

Ok, so i was playing with my router in the admin interface control. I went to go and change it to a static ip because i was having trouble playing a game. I had already changed my ip address to static using network connections/ properties/ clicking on TCP/IP and then properties again and adding all that info there. Now I tried changing to static again while I was in the router's admin interface control. I added in the ip address and subnet mask and the default gateway to change it to static, I clicked apply changes and it was changing to a static ip address even though I had it alrdy set to static manual but then it said i needed to add the DNS servers after it was dont updating the router. About 5 minutes later after updating it kicked my off the net without letting me add in the DNS servers and now i cant get back on using the router. I can't even get back into the admin interface control to undo what I did because I can't connect to the internet using the router. I don't know if the problem happened because I tried setting the router to static twice one manual and then the other on the admin inter. control but if this was the problem please let me know thank you.

If anyone could help me fix this and get me online again using my router I'd be sooo happy. Please post if you know a way to fix this.

If you got a dhcp address from the provider you are going to have to just stick with it. To get access back your router there usually a factory reset button on the router a way to reset it. You might have to re flash the firmware with it.

jUst do the manual ips on the computers not the router.

not sure what u mean by If you got a dhcp address from the provider you are going to have to just stick with it but, i checked the router and it doesn't have a reset button to get back to the router and could u elaborate when u mean i have to re flash the firmware with it.

and to make it clear, i have no way to get back onto the router to change any settings also i did the manual ips alrdy on the computer i just want to get back on the router and undo the set up of the static ip address

Hi,

Try "Portforward.com" they have a section there for those locked out of the router.

Reset your PCs TCP settings back to "Obtain Auto".

I have a question on that same router.

Lately we have had to re-boot the router (and DSL modem) as our XP (3) PC's and one Apple Notebook (with Leopard) have no connection to the web.
Its been happening more frequently lately.
There is no new firmware to update that I am aware of .

I have noticed 3 new visible 'networks' on our street. Is it possible someone has the N1 version and is kicking us off our network?

If me buying a N version will fix this, do I :
1) need to un-install the existing Belkin software off each machine (other than the Mac)? then install the new software?

2) I use a Desktop card for my PC & my son uses a Notebook card, the 3rd XP is hardwired to the router.
Is the N version backward compatible? I ask this as I would upgrade our Belkin card, but not my sons as he rarely uses his PC. So would he still be able to have access to our network with a Pre-N card?

(oh, and I have changed the channel #)
