Hi,
I have trouble conecting a DHCP enabled router to my windowsXP computer, I have used a protocol analyser to check for packets on the LAN, I find that the computer (DHCP is enabled ) sends out DHCP Discover packets to the router the router responds with an DHCP offer, but the computer instead of accepting the request continues to transmit the request packet..
The computer after some time acquires a APIPA address, (reserved when the the DHCP server is unreachable).
Kindly explain why this happenning ??
I have another router that works very well, I have examined the packets sent out by this router, and I find that they are exactly same !!
Is there any list of registered DHCP servers stored in the client computer that allows/ denies connections to a DHCP server ??
Or is there a bug in Windows XP ????
thanks
