Here's my situation -

I had Bellsouth DSL. My DSL modem was plugged into a 5 port switch which fed my PC, a VoIP telephone adapter, and a Linksys WAP. Everything worked fine - until I moved across the street. Literally 100 yards away. Bellsouth said they couldn't give me DSL over there so, Hello Road Runner.

The tech came in, installed the cable line, put in the modem - showed me everything was working and went on his way. Now I'm trying the same set up, but my Powerbook won't surf. I have the Modem plugged into a port (not the uplink port - can't remember if I have to) on my switch. My VoIP works fine (plugged into another port on the switch). My WAP looks like it's getting signal (but I haven't been able to confirm since I can't surf over the airport on my mac yet either).

The Tech over at road runner finally said that the modem was having tons of time outs and I should swap the modem out, and he was concerned about the noise levels on the line and wanted to send out a technician.

I plugged my laptop directly into my cable modem and bing! I could surf - for about 2 mintues and then the same thing happens. I type in an address and it just sits like it's looking for it for eternity. The network status says that I'm connected to the internet.

What have I done wrong?

Sorry, looks like maybe I put this in the wrong forum. Can't find a way to move it. Anyone who can tell me that, and I'll do it. Thanks.
