View Full Version : Ripping CDs
What does everybody use to rip CDs?
I've got an old CD that has a crack in it.
I usually use Audiograbber w/Lame 1.32
Hoping to find a program that can rip that CD.,,,
the crack is on the Outside can't rip the last 3 tracks.

EAC + LAME
Install EAC and in File > Compression Options > Additional Command Line Options type "--vbr-new -V0"
Also go through the drive options and test to see if you can do secure mode. In File > EAC Options make sure Error Recovery is set to high.

Wmp
If the disc is physically cracked, I'd be shocked if any of the ripping programs could read it.

I've actually got EAC to copy a cracked CD. I doubt it was bit perfect but it worked.
I'm not saying EAC will read any of them but it's probably the only ripping proggie that would have a chance too.

If it wont work and its cracked but still in one piece use a really thin amount of super glue to get it in place, let it dry a day and then try again.

I've never thought of that, Yardy. The only ones I've ever tried, belonged to my sons friends. He'd brag it up that I could copy anything....:wth:
thanks guys...
Seems to be working so far...
61.1% on Track 14 (1/3 tracks) Time 10:21:43
Est Remaining 6:35:33
lol, slowly but surely...whatever works..
getting ready to go to work, well see if it gives up on that track when I come home..

Yup it can go real slow with the errors, but it does a good job.

I had to glue one of my moms CDs, pain to get it lined up, but it worked, I just wouldnt want to put it in with the glue partially dry only and then have it leak out in the drive. LOL
