Not able to use internet

My mom has a laptop that was working fine. Now it will not connect to the internet.

I brought it to my house along with the wireless router D-Link Airplus Extreme G

I disconnected the cable modem, and router -- powered off the laptop -- waited 30 seconds -- powered on router -- waited 30 seconds -- powered on cable modem -- waited 30 seconds -- turned on laptop

still no access.... I turned off antivirus and firewall... still nothing... tried hooking it to the cable modem.. powered down and up again... nothing

Can anyone help.. Please??

Hi,

If thats a cable modem you are trying to connect it to , I would switch evrything off for 4MINS, this gives the modem time to forget what was last plugged into it and accept the new hardware.
