windows stops

I have a 450 k6 2 cpu 320 mb of ram once explorer onens my ram drops by about 10 per cent and every page that opens after the first continues to chew up my ram untill it gets to one or two percent then the computer locks up. this problem only started after a switch from 95 to 98.I have tried a couple memory managers without much luck .please help if you can

well which memory managers? ramidle 9x is the best, you can get it here http://www.tweaknow.com/ramidl.html, if that doesnt work try different settings on your virtual memory, if that doesnt work, make backup and reinstall windows
