My ping will be fine for a couple minutes of gameplay..then it will jump from 20 to 200 every hop. I thought it might be my isp but a trace reveals my first hop (to my router) is 200. If I powercycle my router it fixes it. For about 10 minutes. In fact I've timed it with a logbook. Every 10 minutes my 0 ping to my router jumps to 200.

Now you might be thinking time to buy a new router. This is router number 3. This one is a netgear. Previous ones have been linksys. Everyone I buy has won some award and costs me about 120 USD. What the **** is going on. netstat shows no connections other the ones I want. I keep spyware doctor and AVG running 24/7 and updated. It really pisses me off to slow to a crawl every 10 minutes of pvping.

I use a cat 5 cable to connect. Every pc in the house has this problem so I know it's not the ethernet on my pc

WGT624 v 3 is the model of my current router. And it's firmware is up to date

Turns out not every pc in my house isn't pinging 200 to it. Only Nforce Nics are. Driver update solved.

Depending on which motherboard you have...some have the built in firewall that the nForce adapters can run on. Might want to make sure that's disabled. Else..looks like the driver update did the trick. Now you can enjoy lower than average latency..my experience with the nForce adapters was great...simply fantastic performance.

The firewall is off. And today I was lagging again (with the new drivers) I checked my ping to my router and it was:
1
-24
-24
-24
1
1
1
-24

How I can have a negative ping I dunno. I broke down and bought a linksys nic. The one built into my mobo I guess was just no good
