Problem is I have a Router that the previous IT guy setup, he is no longer with us or better yet not even in the same country now. He setup this router, another switch and the initial cable internet. I am installing DSL and I need to configure the router but can't access it because he apparently changed the password, is there any hope other than the magic reset button?
Thanks guys!:thumb:

Nope..hold her down for about 20 seconds til the lights go through a cycle..then it's admin/admin at 192.168.1.1
Prior to doing so and breaking the cable connection...I'd download the latest firmware also...major platform overhaul in last summers firmware with huge performance increases and new features. Plus a few minor revisions over this past fall.

Run through the setup wizard..right on the first page. You'll most likely select PPPoE...fill in the username and password that your ISP gave you.

Is this all I have to do? The firewall or something in the VPN Router is blocking access.
Do I still need to do this if the modem does it to? I have a Netopia DSL Modem.

Oh..if that's the case..the Netopia is probably already a combination modem/router, most of the Netopia units are. So it's already doing the PPPoE, and NAT, and DHCP. That being the case...you really only need a switch behind the Netopia, not another router.
However....granted the Netopias are really nice units..but the RV0, IMO, is a superior router with more features, and I'd want to use that for my primary router...for example, to utilize the VPN features. So..you'd want a pure DSL bridge up front...not a combo modem/bridge/router. Depending on which Netopia unit you have..you may able to flip it to pure bridged mode..so your RV0 gets the WAN IP address. A call to the ISP..they'll reconfigure it..or walk you through that, or ship out a pure DSL bridge/modem to replace the Netopia with.

I see, that's what I was thinking. So I can bridge the modem and use the RV082 as my DHCP, Firewall and VPN settings?
Also, does the RV082 do IP mapping? Right now I have an IP map using internal and external IPs in the netopia.
