I need a recommendation on what software to buy...it seems that it makes a new file every time "Pause" is pushed... so if i am recording my kid for 5 minutes and push "Pause" 8 times... it makes 8 separate files...is there a software program that connects those files together to make one single file?

If you've bought a Creative soundcard, it probably came with a wave editor that would do what you need to fix the files.

Audacity is probably the best free one. (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)

Can do this with music editing software like FlexiMusic Wave Editor (http://www.fleximusic.com/waveditor/overview.htm). Using Paste – Insert command; can combine different sound files together and make as one single file and then save the audio file with a new name.

Not sure if you got your problem solved yet, but these are the programs I use most of the time.

GoldWave (http://www.goldwave.com/)

Good recording and editing program, lots of bells and whistles. The form and help files are good.

LP Ripper (http://www.cfbsoftware.com/lpripper/lpripper.htm)

LP Recorder (http://www.cfbsoftware.com/lprecorder/lprecorder.htm)

Wave Joiner (http://www.cfbsoftware.com/wavjoiner/wavjoiner.htm)

The last three programs are small, but they do what they say they will. Not much for bells and whistles, and the price is not too bad.
