Replacing Router With Switch

I'm wondering if this would be possible, I've currently got 4 computers, including my xbox 360, and I would like to replace my router with a 8 port switch. I believe my modem is capable of performing NAT and DHCP services. Would this setup work? Would I still be able to share an internet connection between the computers.

if its a modem/router combo device and it does DHCP it should work.

Thanks for the reply, I'll hopefully be able to find a cheap switch, one around 25.00 would be nice. Damn best buy and their overpriced products!!! I guess I'll have to check out Newegg or Tigerdirect.

yes u can! but i have a performance problem using DHCP enabled modem and switch
