Hi people. I have a strange problem here.
I have EDGE ~170 kbps connection. Though there's no wire, the connection is always stable, browsing and downloading makes no problems at all.
However, the online gaming is much different, talking about MMORPG. Mostly I see "past", with delay from 10 to 15 minutes. This does not seem normal, as ping to the server is still relatively small. I checked traffic. The incoming amount of data is always around only 1 Kb/s! Okay, i thought, maybe the nature of wireless connection has something to do with that. I loaded another MMO, and the situation is same. Same 1 Kb per second of incoming data. Then I logged to the game through a distant server of traffic compression service, using ftp port 21. Though it's designed mostly for traffic saving, probably reducing speed a little - the problems were gone. 0.5-1 second lag, normal for such a connection. Very weird.
So what's wrong? I thought it has something to do with port restrictions of some kind, contacted my ISP and they said there are no restrictions to ports. Sent them a prove of difference while using another port through different server, the reply was same - no port restrictions. They have some kind of 30 sessions limit, but I don't think the game uses them. One TCP connection to server.
Any ideas? Thank you.
