if i set the linksys g wireless router to act as an access point. can i plug comps into it and it will provide internet to the comps via the other wireless router in the house? or just it just feed wireless singnal from the modem

Yes.
Make sure it's LAN IP is in the same range as your main router. For example..if your IPCop box is 192.168.1.1....the Linksys by default will have a LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 So reassign the Linksys to something like 192.168.1.245..which is common for APs.
Disable DHCP on the Linksys...so it doesn't conflict with your main router.
Uplink the Linksys to your main router or switch using a LAN port on the Linksys. You will not use the WAN port of your Linksys.
Depending on which model you have..I do recommend you look into DD-WRT firmware for it. It supports an "AP mode" better...and you can also utilize the WAN port of the Linksys as a regular LAN port..basically giving you a 5x port switch/AP. And crank up the output power...better range/distance. And it's more stable.

i ment like wireless router in 1 room. wirless router in another room set to AP with comps plugged in for internet access. finds out i need a bridge or a router that supports bridging.

Oops..yeah, sorry, didn't catch that...
Yeah...."bridging"...which is also something the DD-WRT firmware does better. You lock it to the main wireless router via a MAC address.

unfortuantly i have the v6 the one with the 1/2 amount of flash and it says its extreamly risk using the micro version on it. do i dont want to risk it. i mainly wanted to do this for my little bro so he can join me on live at his house. but he moved the xbox so where all set so the need is gone
