dsl help

hi guys im new here. well im a noobie so plz try to help me out in the easiest way possible. well heres my problem. im using my speed stream 5100 modem to connect to the internet right now. everything works perfectly and have no trouble connecting. well i got this AT&T 2Wire 2701 HG-B wireless router. when i try to connect with this modem all the lights turn solid green except for the internet light. the internet light just flashes green and then after like 10 min turns solid red, and will not connect. I have DSL Extreme 1500/384 package. i dont know if this makes any difference but i used to have SBC DSL and everytime to connect to the internet i had to dial up(had username and password) now with dsl extreme as soon as i turn on the computer the internet is on. well guys i dont know if maybe the router is just not compatible or wut. any help would be greatly appreciate it

Let me try to understand you.

You have switched Service Provider but assumed that your existing router setup can connect to the new ISP.

Are both ISP using the same system? Eg, PPPoE?

If not, you have to reset your router to factory default and run a new setup to suit your new Service Provider.
