Hi, just signed up I'm a bit of a newbie so hope this makes sence.
Recently moved to a new house and moved my AOL broadband here. They had to downgrade the line because they said I could only get 1meg here (Middlesex UK).
It was fine for about a month, then after that usually every day my router disconnects, (DG834 wired). Sometimes it will be fine for say 7 hours, then drop.
Last night (Sunday was the worst) it kept dropping every 2 minutes for about 5 hours.
The only way I can get the router to connect is to pick the phone up and leave it off the hook. :(
Yes I have filters on every phone in the house. AOL have said that its an adsl filter problem but how can my filters work, then suddenly not work?
I have tried connecting the router to the main phone socket in the house and the same thing happens. (The master socket goes to two other sockets upstairs)
Here is a copy of a trace route I just did, hop 3 usually goes to some aol proxy and it usually has a high ping:

Tracing route to www.google.co.uk [216.239.59.147]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms www.routerlogin.com [192.168.0.1]
2 16 ms 12 ms 13 ms rt-lostg10.dial.aol.com [195.93.23.202]
3 * * * Request timed out.
4 14 ms 14 ms 13 ms accessl2-los-ae6.router.aol.com [172.17.169.108]

5 13 ms 15 ms 14 ms accessl1-los-S1-3-0.net.aol.com [195.93.31.32]
6 14 ms 14 ms 13 ms pop1-loh-S1-2-0.atdn.net [66.185.143.193]
7 15 ms 13 ms 14 ms google.atdn.net [66.185.143.34]
8 14 ms 13 ms 15 ms 72.14.238.242
9 28 ms 25 ms 24 ms 66.249.95.107
10 25 ms 24 ms 25 ms 72.14.232.241
11 29 ms 27 ms 40 ms 216.239.49.126
12 27 ms 25 ms 24 ms 216.239.59.147

Trace complete.

Any help would be appreciated!

You said you are using a router. What about the modem?

Do this test and post the report under the 'Statistics' button:

The modem is a BT voyager 105. But omg I feel like an idiot its working now!
I basically was putting a filter onto th router - phone socket connection.
I removed it and just connected it directly and its working now O.o!(filters still on other phones)
I dont use the modem btw, its just like comp > lan cable to router > wall socket.

Should I connected to modem also?

If you are not using the modem, then you do not need to put a filter to it. But we should never have a filter between the comp and any signal device.
