Your getting 216kbps so it looks like your fin, if your DLing at 20-30KB then that makes sense.

You are in Melbourne, Australia. You did not 'xxx' out your IP address and so I used it to find your location.

Who is your ISP and what speed package did you pay for? I will be surprised the package is for only a 128 kbps line, as your speed to the US can achieve 216 kbps with such a high round trip time of 1838ms. More likely you have a 1024 kbps or more line.

What kind of firewall and antivirus are you using?

Do a tracert to www.yahoo.com and post. To do a tracert, click 'Start' and then 'Run'. Type "cmd" into the box and click 'ok'.

A DOS black screen will appear. Type after the C:\>

tracert www.yahoo.com

and press enter key

When test is completed, move mouse cusor to the DOS black screen, click right and choose 'select all'.

Move mouse cursor to the Quick Reply box of this forum, click right and 'paste'.

Tracert does not show any problem. The high round trip time may be due to your firewall or antivirus if you are using ZoneAlarm or Norton.

Try testing your speed using the 2 Aussie test servers of this link:
