I really need help on this one.
I have had a Linksys Wireless G router running for a very long time, both of my laptops connect to the router without a problem, and my desktop, wich is on a switch also works fine. My second desktop is the problem, it simply will not work :|, it is connected wirelessly using a Linksys SpeedBOOSTER, it can connect to the router, but when connected, Internet Explorer and all other tools requiring internet still don't work!
The desktop connected fine for about a month, it stoped working about a week ago!
Tell me whatever information you need, PLEASE HELP.
If you think you can help but don't understand, please say so, I will re post!!

A couple of questions. Are you being assigned a valid IP address? If not, you need to make sure that you can ping the router. If so, can you ping any outside addresses? Try pinging 4.2.2.2 and see if you get a response. If you do get a reply then you need to ping an address somewhere, I usually use yahoo.com since it is always there to answer. If you cannot ping 4.2.2.2 then you need to repair your connection, just right click on the network icon in the taskbar and select repair. If you can ping 4.2.2.2 but cannot ping yahoo.com, then you have a DNS issue and you need to make sure that your DNS is assigned correctly and that the DNS server is working.
Let us know how these tests work out.

Have you tried going through the tips stickied at the top of this forum?

I ran the following tests and found I was unable to ping neither the router, 4.2.2.2 or yahoo.com
When I try to 'repair the connection', it says it is unable to renew the IP address.
What do I do now?

Update the drivers for your wireless card, then try using the Winsock XP Fix (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4372). Your wireless adapter might also have gone bad.

I downloaded the newest driver for my Speedbooster from the Linksys site, uninstalled the old one, ran the new one and still nothing. I ran Winsock XP fix, nothing.
I'm going to try another adapter I guess.

Try installing a static IP address inside the IP range of your router and see if you can then access the internet. Also see what IP's your other computers have so you don't conflict. If the Static IP works then you may have a DHCP problem through your router. May be time for a replacement?
Edit: Also can you try connecting to the router through a wired port and see if that works? Also if there is any kind of encryption, WEP or PSK2 or any other ones, the correct key needs to be entered or you will not be given a IP through the device. It may accept a bad code and then just not let you connect or get an IP. Hope this helps.

There is no encryption and the router is working fine for all the other computers. We can plug the computer that doesn't work into the wall and run dial-up just fine, I think it might be a problem with the adapter as mentioned above.
