Im trying to get wpa-psk to work on my windows xp sp1 system using wmp54g v4 wireless adapter. I have it working on my sp2 system using the same adapter and driver version.

The problem is when using wpa-psk TKIP it connects and then disconnects every 3 seconds continuously. I have installed the update which enables wpa on sp1.

the router is wrt54g and the computer connects when no encryption is used. I am also using mac filtering. Any suggestions or known problems with SP1 and WPA?

Update XP to SP2, it dramatically improves the wireless client. Besides that SP2 and the rest of the updates since then make XP much more secure and reliable.

Automatic updates wasnt ready to install it as of yet and I cant use windows update as its not an authentic version . I fixed the problem by changing my router over to WPA Personal instead of WPA2 Personal, and changed windows to connect using WPA instead of WPA-psk. So in conclusion there appears to be problems using SP1 and WPA2.

You should use an authentic version of windows cuz you won't get a lot of help here without it. Besides it not being authentic lots of thsoe builds have other stuff added in and some features taken out. Thats the first thing to eliminate in any problems you'll have, cuz you never know what could be done to it.

To help you not see me as an ass though, you may want to try the downloadable updates:
