I would like to use Nero 6 to burn DVDs as archive files from data on my hard drive and as a transfer medium to some future new PC. This includes photos, DV home videos, and documents. The video downloads are .wmv files and the completed movie projects are .mswmm ( ie. used Windows Movie Maker)

For the Photos and videos I would like to archive entire folders, not make a slide show or movie. Nero 6 has options for copying "Data" and for Creating a photo & video DVDs, or for making back-up DVD.s

My question- is the "make a Data" DVD the appropriate task for all these copying requirements? In other words, are the folders containing photos or videos best considered just Data for my archiveing tasks?

Thanks, JLN

Welcome to Speedguie JLN! :)

Regarding your question, "make a data dvd" is the right option you would need in Nero.

Another route you might consider is an external HD. Might be a bit more money up front, but they do come in handy. :)

I'd second that. I've got two external drives that have come in very handy when moving music/video/data files between my old computer and my new computer. You can get external drives on the order of 160 gig for under $150 these days.
