A customer is going to be changing their ISP and will be changing the WAN when they do this as well. THey have Voice and Data using t1's, but are changing to a 20MB fiber. The current cisco routers at the remote sites are 1600 series and have serial connections to the CSU/DSU for voice and 10MB for the network. I think I want to get the 1760 cisco series routers for the remote sites for the use of the fastethernet and the extra expansion ports. I guess I will be getting a CSU/DSU card for voice? The customer connects back to a data processor via serial interface from the main router at the main office to the data processor router which is also at the main office. It is also IPX protocol that they have to run. We want to have encryption from the remote sites to the main site so can a VPN be created from an ethernet to a serial interface and use the IPX protocol?

The customer has informed me that the fiber will only be used for data and that voice will still be on the T1.

I would look into a 2800 series. My bet is they will eventually realize using a 20Mb fiber and a T1 is not the way to go. Then you can just say OK, and tranfer everything over to the fiber and the router will easily handle the load.
