Drag and drop has stopped working

Hmmm. Any Ideas?

If you click and hold the button on the desktop and try select a bunch of icons does it work or does it seem like the mouse is interrupted?

I updated just yesterday.

I can click and drag an icon, however it will not enter into a program or folder.

Haven't seen this before....so don't have an answer..but am curious about it. Are there multiple accounts on this machine? Or if not..can you make one? And see if this issue follows to another profile?

I have but one profile.

The machine has been taking longer to boot.

If using IE7 then the latest update could have s/g to do w/ the issue. IE7 still has bugs. What I would do to tshoot is:
1. right click on Taskbar and click properties > Start Menu > Customize > Advanced > Enable dragging and Dropping.
2. uninstall mouse via device manager & reboot, the issue could be caused by corrupted mouse driver.
3. if have system restore enabled then uninstall the last set of ms updates via add-remove & then pick a good restore point prior to the issue occurring & prior to the last updates.

Thank you for the tips. The problem seems to be intermittent, as it is working fine right now without any changes.

I will reinstall mouse drivers very soon..... I am getting a new mouse/keyboard combo for the holidays
