View Full Version : Can I bypass the need to click on "default" when I launch Netscape?
I recently downloaded Netscape 8.1. I like it, particularly the "fill and submit" feature for passwords. When I launch Netscape, the launch brings me to another selection for "Default" user. Please advise how I can eliminate this pause and go directly to the browser when I launch it.
Thanks,
Tom

Is there a check box to tell it to never show this screen again? Too lazy to load Netscape and see for myself.
No there is no check box. Here's what is displayed. I even tried to enter a new user but, in addition to "default," it also stopped there to select either "default" or "new user." This box does not come up in prior versions of NS and is bothersome, particularly when launching from a link.

Under Tools/profiles, the "Remove" button is grayed out. Apparently this is not where it is to be deleted or bypassed.

Well I suppose you could just make it default and if you change your mind later, open IE and it should ask you the same thing.

Wow I didnt even know that was still used.
From google results thats the right section to fix it. But you'd know that cuz your the one that asked on the netscape site :)

i installed it just to figure this out for ya XD
Many thanks. That fixed the log-in so that the Default box not longer comes up. Any ideas on how to make the Bookmark page keep its alphabetical order? Whenever I click on Bookmarks, I have to go to Manage Bookmarks to view them in alpha order. This is not saved when they are first presented.

on the right top side where you select the book marks, right click over them, then pick " sort by name" luckly netscape took all ym firefox book marks so i was able to try this. after i closed the app and reloaded they where still in alphabetical order (sp?)
can i uninstall this now!? lol
On this version, Netscape Browser 8.1.2, the Bookmarks are on the top left: File...Edit...View...Go...Bookmarks. Right click is not an option. There is no option to select Bookmarks from the right top side.

rest assured it is 8.1.2 just dosnt say it on that page
MorbidPete, when I saw your screen capture of Netscape, I realized you are using a different "view." I will try to reset NS with the alternate view, I think called FUSION instead of the classic look. I'll let you know if I can access and alpha the bookmarks. Thanks for your perseverence.
I'm about to become depressed. Now I can't find where to reset the screen presentation. Currently winscape. Would like to try Fusion.

Tools > Themes, select Fusion, click use theme, restart Netscape.
That worked. MANY TANKS to those who responded to help me and generously offer their time and talent in helping floundering fools like myself. Your time and effort is sincerely appreciated. :)
