I have a Linksys WCG200 Cable/dsl/modem/router, with a dell laptop XP Pro, with a builtin Intel Pro wireless adapter. 2200 b/g. I am getting four to five bars of very good to excellent signal strength with from 24 to 54 MB speed.
For some reason it drops the connection several times per hour and then just automatically reacquires the ip address.
There is no other strong network in the area and I have them set to not connect automatically.
I have tried to change to channel 1 and 11 with no luck. I was using mac filtering but have everything turned off for purposes of diagnosis with no luck. No encription for now. Absolutly no viruses or spyware are present.
We have turned off all other appliances in the house including cell phones and cordless phones, micowaves, etc.
I have tried changing the defaults to G only.
It still does it and nothing I have tried has made the slightest difference.
There are no firmware updates for this box.
I am using windows to manage the connection.
Ip repair trick no effect either.
What is left? What am I missing?
What could cause a strong signal to randomly dropout and reconnect automatically under these circumstances? :irate:
