What's the default Router login after a reset?

A friend has a WRT56G V4 and a cable modem. She has recently moved and her Router has not worked since the move. I will be helping her over the phone and it might/will get ugly... So if I do ask her to rest her router... what is the factory login gonna be?

I editied some of this so it's not entirely public. The stuff in red is what I believe to be wrong. I can do wired router's with little problems... mostly getting folks to do exactly what I tell them versus what they assume i ment <sigh>.

Since this is a wireless router and new ground for me. I want to be prepared. I've googled "setting up a wrt54g" and have some good info to work with. But the defaut stuff is not in any of the sites listing help.

I don't have the Router setup from her yet, but with her PC plugged into the cable modem her IPCONFIG /ALL is as follows... If anyone knows what the highlighted red stuff is? I'd like to hear it.

I was hoping to see 192.168.1.1 numbers but not with this animal... 192.168.X.X did not exsit anywhere. (BTW, it's working like this and I'm way puzzled as to how???)

wrt54g you mean? Haven't heard of a wrt56g.

Default for those..username is left <blank>, and the password is admin

Default LAN IP is 192.168.1.1

DHCP is enabled by default.

With most cable modems...they memorize the MAC of the last device connected to them, and release an IP based on that. So if her PC is plugged into it..and she's on a valid IP..and you quickly disconnect her PC and connnect a router..the cable modem usually doesn't cough up a valid public IP to the router..since it's still waiting for the MAC of her PC to be connected.

Bandaid fix...go to the MAC spoofing section of her router in the web admin, and enter her PCs MAC. Better and my preferred fix...completely power off her cable modem for several minutes. Connect the routers WAN port to it...router on, power up cable modem..let it synch up..once synched...power cycle the router. Once it's up...release/renew IP on the PC...so it gets proper DNS info this time.

Her PC should pickup a 192.168.1.100 address from the router. Go in...perhaps ensure latest firmware, change default password, lock down her wireless, etc.

I haven't piddled with IPv6 yet...but the Teredo you see, and the highlights in red, are what that's about.

Yeah, all of that is IPv6. Shouldn't hurt anything as it is meant to work together with IPv4, but also probably isn't needed either.
