OK here's the problem I have.
I have an 8mb connection that I run through an ISP provided usb adsl modem. Anytime I run BitComet now the DHT is never connected and my DL speeds are horrendous for an 8mb connection. I have never had this problem until I recently had to reformat my HD and install XP from scratch. I have read pretty much everything there is to read through google ie Exceptions in XP Firewall, disabing then enabling DHT through Bitcomet preferences. I can't access any setting in my router as it as USB adsl modem with no settings to go into and I am out of ideas. I run Norton AV 2006 but there doesn't seem to be anything there affecting it. In addition I was running this before I reformatted and it all ran fine without this problem. If anyone can help with simple step by step guidelines to sort me out it would be much appreciated.

This is no solution. A router acts like a firewall to incoming signals. You need to open ports in your router (port forwarding) to create access for any torrent program. Check through your router manual on how to config it.

Very true. You can try every client out there, but you'll have the same problem with them all, unless you open the proper ports.
