I left windows 2000pro when I got my P4 2.4c because 2000pro didn't utilize logical cores like xp did.
Since I have a core 2 duo now, which has 2 legit cores, would 2000pro be a good choice to go back to?

do you prefer one over the other?

I loved windows 2000 pro. I only switched to get the performance increase of xp for benchmarking purposes.
I've learned to live with xp fine, but am wondering if going back to 2000pro would be a good idea.

Well Im not sure about 2000 seeing both CPUs, because MS changed the license for XP so the dual cores and HTs work, dunno if the dual cores will show up on 2000.
But if it does work and u like 2000, then use it.

I haven't back formatted a Core Duo rig to 2K...but 2K should still see both cores..and utilize them. 2K saw HT processors as 2...just wasn't able to utilize HT as well as XP.

And I became a traitor because of it.
The whole idea came from someone I know saying how great he thought windows me! was and for some reason the thought of why I stopped using 2000pro popped in my head.

I'd stick with XP... cause I do think the optimzers for dual cores only work through XP but I could be wrong.. I just think you will see better performance with how XP runs vs 2Kpro
