In the past I have been able to copy my LP's and burn them onto a cd using Nero Ultra 7. I am now getting an error message saying that an error has occured and to send the info to Microsoft. I contacted Nero and they told me to run clean up and reinstall Nero from their site. (I have a disc). But it still does not work. I tried installing from the disc but for some reason it will not load. I imagine there is something blocking this action. Any suggestions?

So to undertand your post, you've tried uninstalling Nero and then reinstalling it and now, it won't even reinstall?

I was able to reinstall from the Nero site but I wasn't able to reinstall it from the installation disc.

So installing from their site. Your software still doesn't work?

Make sure you uninstall nero first, run a registry cleaner like the one in ccleaner

http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds.aspx

And then reinstall.

If it still wont install from the disc then I think you might have other problems and should DL adaware and spybot to scan for adware junk.

Have you made any recent changes to your system, installed new software/hardware?

The rest of the software seems to work except for the ability to use Nero Soundtrax and use the Wizard to copy the LP to the computer so that I can burn it to a CD. I will do an adware and spybot scan. I hadn't installed any new hardware or software before this problem existed.

Really you don't need Nero for this. You just need software that can do the recording to wav for you.

What soundcard are you using? Creative's software should be able to do this.

I think there's also free software for recording wav files. I'll do some checking.

I believe the sound card I am using is BtCap, WDM Audio Capture. Thanks for your help.

AIMS lab?

Yeah I kinda doubt it came with a wav editor. Seems they went out of business in 99.

I ask because I too, record LP's.

I looked around on google but didn't come up with a free wav editor. I know there's one out there, I'm just running into a brick wall, finding one.

I'd suggest you try what Yardofstuff suggested. It's possible you have other issues.

You might also try uninstalling Nero in softmode and then rebooting and reinstalling.

*edit*...I'm getting old. Nero is famous for being hard to uninstall everything.

Go here and download their Clean Tool for getting rid of all Nero installs.

Audacity is a pretty fancy editing tool for audio files.

I knew there was one out there, Yardy. Thanks for the link.

Aduacity gets pretty good reviews, too.

I checked out Audacity and it works very well. I save the recording as a WAV file and I can either edit on Audiacity or Nero. Thanks again to the both of you for your help.
