Well I'm back in the game after a short (long it IT) spell. I did not get the chance to deal with much wireless networking rather all cable in my previous life.
I have a rural client who needs to cover a site of approx 6 to 10 acres. What is my most cost effective choice as I need to have access in 2 brick residences and 2 metal barns.
Help this is rather urgent.
Thank You
Carla

Might talk to the peeps at Buffalo Tech...take a look at some of their high gain WDS equipment. You dealing with pretty much just indoor stuff?

I'm looking at full coverage for the site. I anticipate access will be needed in the cattle pens as well as the normal office and houses. They will be using laptops to track cattle idetification as we as the normal billing and internet usage.

You can bridge the connections on the g standard. Will take quite a few to cover 10 acres though.

Might look into high gain antennas as well.
The pre N standard promises some very high ranges and with high speeds, but there's no guarantee that it will be compatible with the final drafted N that they eventually adopt.

I did a similar project using a Linksys access point and high gain antennas located in a plastic tool box with a small snake pen type heater, mounted on a telephone pole in the middle of the field that the owner wished to cover.
It wasnt for tracking but provided coverage to the buildings and anywhere he wanted to drive and get on his laptop on his property... Hardest part was the ditch to the pole to get the power and cat 5e out to it.
You might consider something like this http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1133201998719&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper
Good luck
