If you have all the proper services enabled that XP's firewall requires then this is usually do to a malware infection.

You can try this .reg file and see if it fixes it, if not please post a HijackThis log for us to look at.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall\StandardProfile]
"EnableFirewall"=dword:00000001

With the other problems you had you still aren't using an antivirus program? I can almost guarantee that your pc has been compromised at some point.

I would suggest using AntiVir Antivirus (http://www.free-av.com) and Kerio 2.1.5 Firewall (http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page7.html) both are free and use very little resources.

Right, that's why I suggested you use Kerio firewall.

:confused:

it says i have to turn on ics.

OK...so have you done that?

Let me change the question...have you done any system tweaking? Followed some guide in giving your system better performance..where it had you go in and disable services?

Click on Start==>Run==> and type in services.msc

Click on the Standard tab on the bottom to get the normal view

Alphabetically...scroll down the list to Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS).

The columns on the right...what is Status, and Startup Type?

Try running this tcp/winsock reset utility..

You need to make sure the Network connections and Windows Management Instrumentation servies are both on too.

If so, just change Firewall/ICS one to start automatically and then reboot, it should be on then.
