Hello.

I've been having problems running certain programs on my computer. Specifically when i run the game "Gunz" my computer will restart constantly at seemingly random moments. The same problem happens at times when i am on You Tube. I'm not sure what the problem is. I assumed it was a registry problem.

Here is a screenshot of the error after my computer restarted.

Can anyone help me fix this problem?

Disable automatic restart on system failure so that it will BSOD on you and you can get a stop error, then you can narrow down the error. Also check your system event log for errors.

Once you know the exact problem you can fix it.

I had a problem similar to yours, and the only way i could track it down was to use task manager to see the processes that were running.

It turned out that svchost.exe was consuming heaps of CPU, 90-100% and after a short time the machine would reboot.

After some digging around there was a patch for a vunerability, but i tried the patch from MS and it still did not work. In fact going to the update site sometimes kicked of the svchost.exe (as it should) which would then make the pc crash again.
If you kill the svchost.exe process the pc will not crash, or at least untill the process starts again.

Also just check for trojans/virus. During my searches for an answer i was told to try this. Howerver, i did not find any.

In the end i simply had to re-build my machine, that was the only way to fix it permanantly.

I suspect i have downloded and installed something that has caused this problem, but i dont know what did it..good luck

Hey thanks for the help.

I turned off automatic restart on system failure. It seems that the main reason was that the game "gunz" did not install properly, which was causing a system failure. After reinstalling it again, it seems to be working fine.
