Problems with Win ME

I have a fairly new:

AMD K7 1.1 GHZ
128 Ram
32 MB Video Card
30 GB Hard Disk
Windows ME

Sometimes when I start the computer up, it'll stard loading and then just freeze with nothing on the desktop no mouse, the only option you have it 2 restart, and the second problem I get is when I shut dows the computer, a blue screen comes up saying "System Halted, Windows protection Error, System must be restarted".

Any one know how 2 fix em, caus they're a pain in the F$%?*NG Arse !!! :confused:

did you buy a IBM or compaq? lol. My uncle has a Athlon 600 from IBM and having the same problem. Because he got some extremely important stuff on the computer (he runs 5 macdonald in Toronto :)) and he doesn't want me to format it, that's why i never know whether it's HW or SW

Just a guess here based on my W/ME machine. Are you running any combination of Zonealarm, Adaptec, and Norton Antivirus? For some reason they seem to conflict on startup sometimes on my machine. It is a timing issue.

I have been looking for a way to set the startup order, but having no luck.

If you are running any of these, stop them from starting with Windows and see what results you get.............

It is possible if it is not a software proublem. You could have a bad video card or memorychip. This will cause this to happen to. Check your software for conflicts. If this is not the problem . Call your support line for your computer. If it is still under warrenty and is a hard ware proublem you will get it fixed. Good Luck! ;)
