Sorry for my lack of knowledge , but I need some help here.
I have 3 computers in my house currently networked via cable and a switch.
Ive just gone onto the new Orange Livebox wirless & talk package.
I havent set it up as yet as they dont send you any adaptors for your other PCs:irate: . lol.. I'm kinda pissed off with the fact they want me to pay £34.99 each for these 2 other adaptors plus the extra coat for the X box 360:irate:
especially when I can buy 2 adaptors of e.bay plus the x box 360 one for the cost of one of theirs.
Enough of the rambling..lol
what I need to know is what type of adapter to buy? They have specfically left any specs of their adaptor of the Buy page so I dont know what type to get.
I'm totally confused by the *a* *b* *g* etc does it matter? How do I found out wht frequency my livebox is running off:rtfm: ..
Any advise for this brain dead female would be greatly appreciated.
The url for their adaptor is below..

Also found these on e.bay.. Any Good?

Sadly, not on the specifics of Orange Livebox wireless & talk package, but at least on the other fundamental question. Regarding IEEE 802.11(a), (b), and (g), yes it does matter. Potentially a great deal. That's because the maximum consistent data rates are much different between them. Since your system wants to transport both video and audio information (probably bidirectionally and with highest practical fidelity), the total "bits per second" of information flow possible will ultimately place a limit on that. i.e. How many people ("users"), and interactively how high the video and/or audio quality.
My briefest useful advice is that there are too many manuals between you and the day when you will ultimately be very knowledgable. I'd suggest buying lunch for a friend (or friend-of-friend) who is knowledgable and whom you can trust. Such a person will know what to ask *you*, so you won't have to worry whether you've made a major booboo.
Like your computers or PDAs or other tech devices, when you live with the system for a while you'll develop a rounded understanding of the practical view of its operation, abilities and limitations.
Have you sought forums or other information sharing opportunities devoted specifically to this system? Surely the retailers can refer you to some early adopters who can frighten your knickers off with war stories about how the fate of the nation was nearly compromised as they struggled to bring it up?
Hope it goes well and profitably for you.

"A" wireless is not very common..in a world all by itself, not interoperable with B/G/N
"B" and its newer replacement..."G" are the common ones (currently being replaced by variants of "N"). ....the newer ones are backwards compatible with prior versions. Meaning...B will work on G and N, B and G will work on N.
Guessing X-Box adapters run on B and/or G...probably in an owners manual that came with it.

Thanks for that.. though having a huge problem with understanding anything the other guy said..ROFL
But I did get the odd snippet:p
Update
I bought one of the Belkin adaptors and with a bit of tech support from Orange managed to get it all up and running.
I was suprised on checking the web that the belkin adaptor has such a poor write up:wth: .. I had no problem with it at all. Picked up my network straight away. The only thing that needed changing were a few setting on the Livebox.
Even managed to get file and printer sharing running in no time at all :thumb:
Just a quick question before I dissapear..
Do you have to use the offical X box 360 wireless adaptor or can you use a standard one? If so what does anyone recomend for a suitable adaptor that wont break the bank, as at £50 I think its way over priced for the offical one.:irate:
