Cannot acqire Network address

I have managed to get my machine to detect my Wireless router but now can't acquire a network address. ???

First off are you certain you are trying to connect to your wireless network? Often times people will just leave the default name (usually whoever makes the wireless router) and there will be a bunch of those networks in an area. It can be hard to tell which one is yours, so if you haven't done so already change the network name (SSID) through the web admin page.

Now do you have nay type of security enabled yet? If so disable it temporarily. If you have a mismatch of settings it will see the network but you won't be able to connect to it (get an IP). If this solves the problem you need to work on your security (use WPA if it is available on your devices). Also check that MAC filtering isn't yet enabled, and once you do enable it that you have your wireless MAC allowed.
