I have the basic tier of comast cable service. Thought I should be getting like around 8 megs down and 384kbs upload. Yet I did a speakeasy test and got these numbers?
Download Speed: 9254 kbps (1156.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1722 kbps (215.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
When the hell did my upload get so good? I tried running the test multiple times and through multiple places on speakeasy but always got similar results. When did my upload all of a sudden become non craptacular or am I missing something here?

I haven't seen my upload shoot up that much...but I've seen my downloads skyrocket. A few weeks ago quite a few Comcast users noticed it from trying online speed tests. I haven't found a 100% authoritative answer yet..but in another forum someone mentioned Comcast was doing major upgrades on their network to prepare for Docsis 3...and in those upgrades..they're allowing for "bursting"...where for brief periods you can download at very high speeds.
When doing Speakeasys test...I can regularly hit 25 megs down. Last night I even saw it hit 65 megs a few times. But it trails off fairly quickly. However..it's nice..when downloading small files..they're downloaded in the blink of an eye. Once the download continues for several seconds..it begins to throttle down to your normal speeds.

Problem is the powerboost is suppose to be only for download right? Nobody ever said anything about and UPLOAD bump. I tested again this morning and got....
Download Speed: 29841 kbps (3730.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2204 kbps (275.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Granted that D-Speed seems off the charts for me I can actually understand that boost in speed. What the heck is up with that upload though? I thought the powerboost only throttled you extra d now u?
Also what's a more accurate way of testing my speed both download and upload besides a website speed test like speakeasy?

It's hard to answer. Certainly I'd agree that the boost would be in download. However...it's work in progress on their end. What we see now...is most likely not permanent. I'm sure the Comcast engineers are learning this and fiddling as they implement it. I don't see the upload you see..my upload never really went up from the 350 I benched at all along. I've only seen my download shoot up..from the 6200 I'd always see before..to these bursts into the 25,000 range.
I've always used and liked Speakeasys online speed tests. They always seemed quite consistant in the past. However many will argue that these browser based speedtests are innacurate. So the answer to that would be to download large files from a place that has massive upload speeds, on neutral turf. Symantec was always a fast one for me, as well as Microsoft.
