i have 4 comps and use wireless through a D-Link router. i can only connect to the internet for about 2-3 hours and then disconnect. I restart the router and the network work. but just only 2-3 hours again, it's off => can't connect. I try and I try and this cycle keeps going. Is this problem because of my router or my ISP( SBC Yahoo DSL)?
how can i fix it guys?
thank you

When your connection appears to drop...can you still connect to the web admin of your DLink router?

The modem that SBC shipped you..what make/model? Most of the new ones they ship you..are actually gateway appliances that combine a modem, with a router. A lot of people think they are just pure modems..meaning..bridge, and they add another router to them. This results in having two routers...you're double NAT'ing..which isn't optimal even if setup correctly.

I can't connect to the web admin of my DLink router when i plug my modem to my router and my router to my comp.
I receive the 401 Unauthorized
My modem model is SIEMENS SpeedStream 4100. Is it a combined modem?

In the web admin of my modem, I found the PPP Locations. It has 3 choices and I am selecting the one that can use with a router. But it says that i should change my router's IP to 192.168.1.1.
My router's IP is 192.168.0.1 which is the same as the modem's IP.
What should i do?

Yah...the 4100 units usually come shipped running as a router. I'd flip it to bridged mode..use your DLink as your PPPoE source and router.

Here was how I tried:
I unplugged the modem with the router, and plugged the modem to my comp. I went to PPP locations of my modem, change it to bridged mode, but after the modem restarted, I was not able to connect to the internet again.
I tried evry thing, I restarted the modem again but still no connection. I tried to change the PPP back to normal so i could use the router, but no hope :(.
Eventually, I used the DSL Installation CD to reinstall. Right now I am using the 1st mode in PPP with my router. Problem had not been solved

What is PPPoE source and how to do it?
