boradband running at 1kbs through WLAN

hi, i thought you guys might be able to help my absolutely ****e connection..

i connect through a wireless network in my house, its an 802.11g network. we have 2meg broadband and typically i download at 100kbs which is alright for me.

a couple of months ago i got a couple of viruses, the puper.dll virus and the fakealert-b virus, i have since cleaned, formatted, defraged and completely reinstalled my programs. i have run registry mechanic to sort out my registry and i only have a download speed of 1kbs.. 5kbs if i'm lucky.

loading web pages is a joke as is downloading music.

my computer doesn't like connecting to my network and keeps losing the signal even though it is very good/excellent strength.

does anyone have any ideas how to make my internet run at propper broadband speed not at slower than dial u speed?

Please tell us what brand and model of router and wireless card you are using?

Files are typically listed in bytes (8bits), perhaps your 100mbps is actually 100MBps (bytes), approx equiv to 800M(bits)/sec.

Verify you are Wirelessly connecting to YOUR network router and not come distant unsecurty WLAN.

Goto http://speakeasy.net/speedtest - choose a server and test your WAN speed. You may be surprised to see your results.
