I use a toshiba laptop with an intel 2915abg wireless chip. I use the intel client software as opposed to the windows client. The driver version is 9.0.3.9. I would like to configure windows to optimize my internet experience: download speed, webpage loading, etc. I connect to the internet primarily through wifi hotspots in hotels and truck stops. I have searched for patches, and applications to accomplish this, however they all seem to ask for cable or dsl with fixed bandwidth. The hotspots I connect to vary in speed from 200 kbs to 1600 kbs. Perhaps the comminity could give me some guidelines to tweaking my settings in the registry to optomize given that I connect wirelessly (is that a word?) in various hotspots with various amounts of bandwidth. I realize speed is a function of the network I'm connected to, but I would like to be configured to take best advantage of the bandwidth available in a given location.
